We all carry unique burdens of the mind, pains of our history, and cultural programming. It is true that we all experience suffering in one form or another as a natural part of life. It is also true that this suffering can be transformed and transcended. Through this transformation it is possible to experience a more connected relationship with the world within and around us. I am open to serve those experiencing PTSD, depression, anxiety, addiction, chronic pain, and spiritual confusion. I am also open to serving those interested in cultivating meditation and other spiritual practices, and generally enhancing quality of life.

She specializes in treating anxiety, stress, life transitions, spiritual awakening, depression, anger, trauma and fears, using a variety of methods including mindfulness, exposure therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, & narrative therapy.
If you've slowed down and seem to have hit an emotional or mental slump, or just need help adjusting to changes in your life, therapy might help. Therapy can help many to examine their thoughts and patterns more mindfully so that they can make conscious change. Without proper insight, patterns can repeat and become habitual and automatic and one can feel as if their habitual thoughts and behaviors have more power than their inner will. Insight can be developed through making efforts to look at one's patterns and a therapist may be able to guide you in processes to be able to better notice such things.

“Love and anger are such a puzzle!" Mr. Rogers exclaimed, "It’s the people we love the most who can make us feel the gladdest . . . and the maddest! It’s hard for us, as adults, to understand and manage our angry feelings toward parents, spouses, and children, or to keep their anger toward us in perspective. It’s a different kind of anger from the kind we may feel toward strangers because it is so deeply intertwined with caring and attachment." Does this sound familiar? You are not alone.

My expertise lies in addressing powerful emotions of shame, anger, loss, and hopelessness which often arise during difficult times of transition or in response to trauma and pain.
In a world filled with constant pressures and expectations, we can feel overwhelmed. We find ourselves caught in a web of emotions, feeling stuck in the mud. And with each step we are pulled in deeper into the confusion, grief, and despair - disconnected from purpose and isolated in the struggle. We yearn to be seen and heard, to find meaning, and hope. I believe deep change is possible and recognize the profound impact of being witnessed and understood. I specialize in supporting men and couples who are feeling desperate and exhausted, and are willing to keep moving.

Do you have counterproductive behaviors that create more issues than they solve? Do you recognize maladaptive thought patterns that disrupt and hinder you from reaching your goals? Only by taking the time to explore your inner-workings, can you begin to identify and eradicate what doesn’t work by developing strategies & moving towards what does, allowing a healthy authentic adult version of you to emerge. I personally believe it's the struggles we endure and the obstacles we overcome that create our character.

As a therapist, I am here to walk through this journey with you, providing you with support, empathy, and guidance. I have a relaxed approach that is spiced with humor and education. My goal is to have a comfortable and creative environment to help you make the changes you want to see. I'm big on education and will likely push books, articles, and videos on you; or at least summarize to the best of my ability. I'm also big on self acceptance and self-awareness, using practical mindfulness and personal intelligence as a guide. This means getting to know yourself and your strengths to learn how to use them to help yourself.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
