I have been a counselor for 20+ years. I work with most substance and/or process addictions, my favorite work being with people dealing with compulsive sexual behavior. I have trained with Pia Mellody and embrace her work on Developmental Immaturity. I am in recovery myself, for 33 years, and enjoy helping others who want to overcome their addictive behaviors. I believe in the importance of treating the underlying childhood issues as well as building a 12-step based recovery. I help people free themselves from isolation and shame caused by addictive behaviors and reengage in their lives from a place of sobriety, peace and joy.

I have been in private practice for over 20 years. My experiences have included working with children, adolescents, and adults in coping with a variety of relationship problems, mental health, and substance use disorders.

Monty Shultz Counseling prides itself in building relationships will all clients. We enjoy working with all age groups but after 14 years of practice we do see more adults than children. Monty still enjoys working with youth behavioral disorders typically seen as difficult to treat. We enjoy the challenge that behavioral disorders present and helping families navigate through the change process. We believe in client centered practice.
