I enjoy partnering with adolescents and adults with a holistic approach, taking time to understand and value your unique experience. I am especially passionate about working with challenges of emotional regulation (particularly anxiety and anger), self-image and identity, and times of transition. My goal as a therapist is to help you understand yourself and equip you as you move towards healthier ways of relating with yourself and others. I approach this by mapping out relational dynamics and helping you build the skills needed to thrive in overwhelming situations.

Waitlist for new clients
Waitlisting clients as of April 2023. - If you are like me, you have procrastinated this decision to seek counseling for some time, and you are steadily nearing desperation. Entering into therapy is difficult - it is important to find a therapist with whom you connect. I provide a free phone consultation and a half price first session, so we can decide if we are a good fit. I work best with clients who are motivated to begin the explorative process towards healing. I seek to honor the vulnerability required to make changes in one's life by listening without judgment and growing to understand the individual's experiences.

As someone who values genuineness, compassion, and transparency, I aim to create a space where clients can be vulnerable and authentically themselves. I feel healing occurs when client’s feel seen, supported, and validated. You can expect curiosity, passion, and informality to show up in my approach. I believe in meeting each client at where they're at in their journey. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, communication problems, and adjustment issues.

Thank you for your interest. My ideal client is motivated for change and open to exploring more about themselves. I use a more direct style of counseling that heavily incorporates aspects of choice theory, reality therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy to help my adult clients make real changes in their lives. For children, I utilize evidence-based directive and non-directive play therapy approaches, depending upon the child's unique psychosocial needs.

Many of us get to a point in life where we realize that we cannot keep doing what we've always done. We are tired, discouraged, and unsure of how things could ever change. Maybe you've been fighting addictive behavior, or perhaps you are feeling weighed down by relentless depression/anxiety? Maybe you and your spouse are constantly arguing and wonder if things could ever get back to the way they used to be? You have tried and hoped for things to be different, but they just aren't...

Have you experienced trauma in your life and seem to struggle with the same situations over and over, not knowing how to stop the vicious cycle. Are your emotions problematic, do you repeat unhealthy behaviors, relationships, have an onslaught of negative thoughts and no matter how successful you have become, you feel like a fake, insecure and if people really knew? How many times have you promised that you will stop, alcohol, drugs and really mean it, want it, yet once again fall short. As a veteran, were you in combat, was your military experience depleting, anxiety provoking and your life never the same? What keeps you stuck?

We all experience hardships in our personal lives, professional lives and relationships that can leave us feeling stressed, confused, isolated, anxious or depressed. Many people experience shame about seeing a therapist or feel they should handle emotional or mental issues on their own. I want to reassure you that we can all use a little help sometimes and we aren't meant to go through it alone. My goal in therapy is to create a safe space where my clients can work through the difficulties in life without judgment.

Maybe you're feeling lost? Maybe you're feeling cheated, insignificant, or like the fire in your soul is smoldering out? We can all feel that way sometimes. The good news is it's not a life sentence and we don't have to do it alone! I would love to accompany you on your path towards healing and transformation as you strive towards building the life you want for yourself. Therapy, to me, is a relational tool in which we can explore ourselves more deeply and heal from our deepest pains.

I am here for you as you are right now. I can imagine that right now things may not be the way you want them. Do you find yourself feeling unsettled? Feeling stuck and just can't seem to make important changes? Find that powerful emotions keep taking you off track from what you truly want? Have you had painful events occur and have noticed you're not quite the same anymore? ... For 10+ years I've been helping people build a life full of meaning. Which often means figuring out how to make important changes while also finding acceptance. This can mean resolving past painful events, boosting skills and/or resolving current problems.

Hi, I'm Megan and I use she/her pronouns. I have 20 years experience working alongside people as they strengthen their inner knowledge and outward interactions. Therapy can bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be. I think a lot about the brain and how we unconsciously replicate patterns. The work I do uses current brain-based therapy approaches to help integrate outdated patterns into newer, more helpful ones.

Each of us has a long list of personal strengths within our “SELF”, but too often they go unnoticed due to the overwhelm of life in general. Life is full of experiences that hold a lasting effect on us and deter us from moving forward. I work with you to identify, and utilize these strengths by processing through the barriers of past trauma, stress and anxiety, and the heaviness of a lack of self-worth. I work with any individual no matter their identity, but being someone who has personal life experiences with addiction, who identifies as LGBTQ and is an adoptive parent, I have developed a special interest in these individuals.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
