I have about 2 decades of experience working with disenfranchised, at-risk children and families and individuals ranging in age from zero to 100+ years old. I have worked with people coping with mental illness, the geriatric population, childhood trauma, adoption, loss and families in crisis.
Currently, many are struggling. If you have survived trauma especially childhood trauma, it can be exhausting just getting through the day. I often work with families who are struggling & overwhelmed.
I received my MSW from CalPoly Humboldt focusing on rural and Indigenous communities, and the impact past trauma and various systems can have on our lives. I believe in working through the trauma of the past to heal so we can be grounded, present and be our most authentic selves. Self-compassion and self-care are important parts of this process.
Growing up in a multicultural home, I know the difficulties families face when they are overwhelmed & struggling to cope with family dynamics & the demands of daily life. Working from a multicultural lens, often feeling "othered" & having faced micro-aggressions throughout my life, my practice is validating & compassionate.
