I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the greater San Diego area. I specialize in treating disordered eating, self-harm, suicidality, and pervasive anxiety and mood disorders, as well as substance use, in adolescents, families, and adults. My book "Mindful Eating from the Dialectical Perspective: Research and Application" is available from Routledge and Amazon. I emphasize concrete behavioral strategies and validation to foster balance, self-awareness, and connection. Creating lasting change can seem daunting--and I can support you in this journey, with tools to help you take one step at a time, to ultimately achieve your goals.
I offer individual and group dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavior therapy, including coaching between sessions. I have specialized in DBT since 2004 and became the first intensively trained radically open (RO) DBT therapist in Southern California, part of the first U.S. cohort completed by treatment developer Dr. Thomas Lynch, in 2015.
I have an extensive background in treatment research, including conducting my own investigations of adapted DBT for eating disordered concerns. I have also directed intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs. Outside the office I love enjoying all the coast and Southern California have to offer, travel further afield, cuisine, and the arts.

Adult DBT Skills Training
I offer two adult DBT skills training group classes: standard DBT skills training group, covering mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness; and radically open (RO) skills training class for overcontrolled emotional expression and related concerns, such as perfectionism, social isolation, anxiety, depression, and restricting eating disorders. RO discusses reasons for this emotional inhibition and teaches alternative strategies to increase self-acceptance, flexibility, and desired relationships. I am one of a limited number of clinicians in the U.S. intensively trained in RO. Cost is $75-$125/week.
