I'm Angela Harrington, with over 10 years experience in mental health and substance abuse disorders and working with diverse populations in schools and the community. I work with all ages from 5 to 65 years old. I specialize in depressive, anxious, personality, conduct, schizophrenia, bipolar, substance related, addictive, trauma and somatic disorders. I'm certified in gaming and gambling disorders. I obtain my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Adams State University in Alamosa, CO. Currently, fully licensed with The North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors.
When working with clients my structured approach is from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) where the individual learns to explore the link between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT approaches includes: cognitive restructuring, guided discovery, journaling (automatic thought record), relaxation, role playing, and behavioral activation activities.
My goals is provide empathy and understanding while challenging the client to identify feelings and emotions which is an awareness to the individuals physical, emotion, and mental reactions.
