I have been practicing as a therapist for more than 7 years and I have worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds. I work with adolescents 12+ and with adults of all ages. In addition to individual therapy, I also work with couples and families on a wide variety of topics. I like to say that I had a “short,” 14 year career in the Air Force before deciding to become a social worker. After separating from the Air Force, I attended UT Austin and earned my MSSW in my journey to becoming a licensed social worker.
With clients, I use client-centered, relational therapy. This means that you, not me, are the driver of the therapy session and that my role is to listen and offer my insight, not to tell you what to do. Some clients prefer, or may benefit from, a specific type of therapy and I am trained in several types of therapy. One type of therapy I'm trained in is DBT
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is another type of therapy in which I have specialized training. EMDR enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. In therapy, I use the detailed protocols and procedures of EMDR to help clients activate their natural healing processes
