Choosing a therapist is a deeply personal decision and I recognize the difficulty it can take to reach out for help. I am a psychologist and work with clients managing anxiety, depression, chronic illness (cancer, pain), ADHD, emotional understanding and expression, life transitions, grief, identity formation, family-of-origin, relationships, existentialism (values, meaning-making), and men's issues. Outside of my clinical practice, I am a Professor of Psychology at Brooklyn College, with extensive teaching experience at the university-level and research program focused on shame, personal values, and well-being.
My approach to therapy is evidence-based and specific to your needs: you are the expert on yourself and my role is to facilitate the healing process. My treatment approach is integrative, but I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and strengths-based approaches. I also conduct diagnostic evaluations.
