I specialize in working with males age 15 and older (including seniors). The issues I typically address are anger-acting out-not following rules, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, relationship problems, gender issues, GBTQ issues, and sexual performance issues. With teens and young adults, I often focus on being responsible, positive and negative consequences of behavior, learning how to manage stress, developing healthy relationships, and charting a path forward. I also work with male abuse survivors, addressing many of the issues listed above as well as boundary issues and developing a healthier sense of self.
My approach is both male- and teen-friendly and often adopts a problem solving approach. I am the author of several books regarding men, including the award-winning "Dating and Sex: A Guide for the 21st Century Teen Boy" and the Men's Studies textbook "The Masculine Self" (7th edition, with Christopher Kilmartin).
My office is located near Wake Forest University (undergraduate campus) and is convenient to downtown Winston-Salem.
