I am an LCSW that has been in the field of counseling and social work since 1995. I am of the belief that everyone deserves help and support with dignity and respect. I specialize in addictions, gambling addiction, dual diagnosis, including trauma and PTSD, LGBTQ issues, grief and bereavement issues as well as have over 15 years experience in hospice and helping patients and their families cope with the patient's end of life journey. In addition I have expertise in group counseling for early recovery, families in recovery and grief support. I am also certified in EMDR and FLASH Technique.
I am in the process of creating a wait list for a bereavement group for those who have lost a loved one to addiction and alcoholism. This is a very specific kind of grief group that helps the survivors to deal with traumatic grief reactions, and teaching about various roles in addictive family. Often clients come into a session so overwhelmed by their situations that the issues can feel like one's identity. It's helpful to understand not only what one's struggle is but also, to understand them as a person. I believe that we each have challenges in our lives, but that these are just part of what we go through, not who we are.
