I have been a licensed clinical psychologist for 25 years. I have specialized training in child clinical psychology/pediatric psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic and systems theory, and mindfulness. I was a tenured professor at GVSU for several years and my research and teaching interests included anxiety, depression, ADHD, eating disorders, pediatric medicine, and self injurious behaviors. I believe that the therapeutic connection is an important component for change. While I am empathic and compassionate, I am also direct.
Given my diverse training background, (University of Florida, Ball State University, Texas A&M University, Medical College of Georgia, VA Hospital, Columbus Children's Hospital), I am skilled in numerous clinical theories and techniques which allows me to tailor my intervention to the specific needs of my client.
I am eclectic in practice, versed in CBT, ACT and solution focused therapies. I value the relationship with my client and I use humor, trust, and warmth to provide a space for growth.
