I believe that behind every problem lies the powerful desire for something better. I specialize in helping individuals, couples and families untangle painful relationship cycles, rebuild trust, and rediscover intimacy. Many of my clients are working to become free of self-defeating patterns resulting from emotional neglect or trauma in early or adolescent development. My typical client is intelligent and responsible as well as anxious and stressed, lonely, depressed or angry. I use research-based therapies that offer practical methods and skills that build emotional flexibility, self-awareness and resilience.
Much of my work is focused on helping my clients create and sustain fulfilling relationships. Most are struggling with high conflict, feeling isolated, misunderstood and alone. Together we rebuild communication and safety, forging emotional skills for coping effectively with intense highs and lows, strong sometimes destructive urges, and impulsive behavior.
