About
As a therapist and educational advocate, I work with tweens, teens, adults and families to bring out their best selves by using successes in the past to confront and conquer current life challenges. It is okay to struggle with anxiety; the goal is to make sure you don't suffer from it. Parent coaching means understanding great kids can also make bad decisions. We work together to learn practical strategies to put in your parent toolbox. I'm also passionate about helping parents trust their instincts by decoding specialized vocabulary of IEPs and help parents assert their expertise when it comes to the special needs of special kids.
I was a classroom teacher for 15 years in public high schools, alternative high schools, a charter middle school, and a gifted program for upper elementary students. My experience volunteering as an advocate for foster children as a CASA and my current volunteerism counseling soldiers for Give An Hour fulfill my need to give back.
On a personal note, I am a Jersey girl who was adopted by Chicago (go Northwestern). I've been known to be overenthusiastic about my beloved Chicago Bears and my fantasy football team, The Brute Squad. I indulge in dreams of being a foodie by obsessing over cooking reality shows.
