Sometimes life's difficulties are too hard to bear alone. Talking with a trusted person, over a period of time, can make a significant difference. This is the essence of psychotherapy. Sometimes people come in crisis, in major life transitions, are grieving a loss; sometimes there are problems in one's own personality, in relationships, family, work, or just plain loneliness. There may be the residue of childhood trauma or other pain from the past that is getting in the way of living a more fulfilling and creative life.
Collaboratively and interactively, I do my best to understand what brings a person, and try to create a space to help one reflect on thoughts, feelings and actions, build on strengths, find new perspectives and ways to change, thereby creating hope for the present and future.
I've had over forty years of experience, in community mental health and privately, working with people from diverse backgrounds, with many different issues. Though trained primarily in open-ended psychodynamic therapy, I will work with you to provide treatment that will best meet your needs, with respect, empathy and compassion.
