About
I specialize in working with children and adolescents, as well as their caregivers. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients and utilizing methods that best fit each individual's needs. I have experience working with individuals dealing with presenting concerns such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief & loss, behavioral difficulties and trauma. When working with children I utilize play therapy, an approach that allows children to communicate through their natural language of play. Underlying all techniques is the personal relationship built with clients. In addition to individual therapy, I provide therapy groups for parents using Child Parent Relationship Therapy.
As a registered play therapist, I utilize child- centered play therapy. This is an effective approach that allows children to process challenges and communicate using their natural language of play. Play therapy is a process in which children are given the opportunity to work through past or current difficulties.
I utilize techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy with adolescents and adults to address current thought patterns and develop positive coping skills. In addition to training in multiple therapeutic treatment modalities, I draw from my training as a certified yoga teacher. This includes incorporating mindfulness and breathing exercises into our work.

Amy Pezzotti, LPC, RPT, NCC's Groups
Child Parent Relationship Therapy
At the heart of CPRT is the premise that a secure parent child relationship is the essential factor for children's well-being. In a supportive group environment, parents learn skills to respond more effectively to their children's emotional and behavioral needs. In turn, children learn that they can count on their parents to reliably and consistently meet their needs for love, acceptance, safety and security. Length of group: 10 weeks; duration of sessions: 2 hours; number of participants: 5-8 parents. CPRT includes three key components: a didactic component, a supervision component and a group process component.
