We all want to feel healthy and whole in our bodies, in our lives, within our families and in our community to fulfill our unique life’s purpose. Yet, meeting life’s challenges may take us off our chosen path- affecting our bodies, our sense of trust, our relationship with others, and our ability to take care of ourselves and loved ones. You are searching for support for yourself or another in reading this profile.
My job is to listen with compassionate empathy and help you or your loved one become better resourced to cope with life’s challenges. I can serve as a guide and witness to foster insight for health and healing.
As a social worker and activist, I have over 20 years of experience working cross culturally supporting women, refugees and communities in Africa, Asia and the Middle East - creating systems of support for survivors of violence. At Lutheran Service of Iowa (University Avenue in DSM), healing, safe spaces to meet in person, telehealth or groups are available.
My counseling practice is person and survivor -centered, and is shaped by training in mindfulness and somatic practices, Trauma Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral and Processing Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy. I support unique individuals honoring worldview, culture, values and beliefs, changes in identity, roles, expectations, and social support.
