My name is Amy J. Muell. I am licensed in the State of Iowa as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW). My specialization is in trauma, particularly sexual abuse. I use evidence-based practices in my treatment approaches. I use a blend of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to each client’s unique needs. My primary approaches include trauma-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and attachment-based work. I also integrate elements of family systems theory and mindfulness practices to help clients build resilience and emotional regulation.
I work with ages 5 to 105 in individual therapy, family therapy and couple's therapy. Depression, anxiety, trauma, and marital problems are areas I have treated in the past 15 years. I specialize in all types of traumas with a focus on sexual abuse and problematic sexual behavior.
By the second session, we’ll work together to create a treatment plan with clear goals and specific interventions. Most clients find success when these goals are met within three months. At that time, we can set new goals as needed.
