Hi there, I am Amy Mendez (Rasheed), a licensed marriage and family therapist. My approach to therapy is to utilize a client-centered approach and engage my clients in meaningful treatment that can benefit the client in order to make changes and bring peace to my client's world. My practice is typically focused on clients who are moving through life transitions: college, a new career, marriage, parenting, divorce, and cultural religious struggles. I provide a safe, empathetic ear and aid clients in recognizing their full potential.
I use client-focused therapy and come from a strength-based approach. I support clients in understanding how their childhood, family systems, and trauma continue to impact adult decision-making and suffering. Using a psychodynamic and mindfulness approach with cognitive behavioral practices oftentimes brings significant results in a short amount of time.
It is very important to continue to visit goals with clients to ensure that a client is feeling the benefits of the therapeutic process. It is a dynamic process and important to me to set realistic goals and continue to visit in session if our goals are aligned and progress that is made.
