As your therapist, I will work from a humanistic approach, which means you are the expert on your own life. My role is to help you move through trauma and ineffective behaviors to more fully understand and respect yourself. This means that I trust your instincts and your body. All of the work we do will be done through a trauma-based lens to encourage self-compassion and challenge shame. Your life going forward doesn't have to be a repeat of your past. We can shift these patterns through becoming fully present in your body and with your emotions. I strongly encourage people to use their intuition to help guide their healing.
Traumatic experiences create the need for coping. Usually those strategies were effective when we were younger, but may not be working now that we're older. As you come to therapy, we will work to identify what patterns you have used to cope, and tease out how to create more effective strategies for the future. I love working with neurodivergent people!
My favorite modalities are IFS, EMDR and DBT. I dig deep to find the roots of the problem instead of staying on the surface. My niche areas are PTSD, cPTSD, dissociative disorders, childhood trauma, ADHD, autism and other variations of neurodivergence.
