About
Nearly thirty years ago I was began my family therapy training with one of the most highly-regarded figures in the field, Dr. Salvador Minuchin. Since then, I have worked with couples reeling from affairs, or on the verge of divorce, people suffering from anxiety or depression, and children with "acting out" behavior or identified as having ADHD. My long experience as a family therapist has only deepened my appreciation for the trials and triumphs of the human condition. I work relatively briefly, and often successfully, with those who have tried other therapies, without improvement.
I specialize in treating both couples in trouble and children with behavioral problems in the context of their family. I assume that the family is pivotal in helping the child, and I am a consultant to the family. My approach integrates an understanding of the family strengths, as well looking at patterns that create difficulty.
I am a long-time teacher in Family Medicine, and have developed a specialty in treating adults and children who suffer from unexplained, troubling physical symptoms, and those suffering from the emotional effects of physical illness. My approach includes involving family in the treatment, in order to help create a new, more life affirming dynamic.
