I have been a practicing clinical psychologist for over 45 years and have specialized in the treatment of eating disorders for the past 40 years. I have maintained a practice in the Detroit area since 1988. Although I maintain a generalized (mixed) practice, I find treating individuals that are struggling with eating disorders a challenging and rewarding endeavor. The behaviors of eating disordered individuals are very similar but the issues behind the disorder are unique to each person.
I am a psychodynamically trained psychologist but am also a certified cognitive therapist. In most cases, I use an integrative approach to treatment. I also train and supervise professionals on the treatment of eating disorders and personality disorders and have served on the Boards of numerous national and international eating disorder organizations.
I am also a researcher, teacher and author and have been a faculty member at Wayne State Medical School, the University of South Florida Medical School, and the Hamilton Holt Graduate School, Rollins College.
