I specialize in evidence-based treatment for trauma. Related issues include anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, difficulties with emotional regulation, and stress management. I primarily utilize attachment-based EMDR therapy. I stress creating balance in your life as a means of promoting improved quality of life, purpose and meaning, healthier relationships, and increased self-compassion. I encourage clients to learn how to take back control of their lives by managing life stressors in more effective ways. Because life is not just about learning how to survive, but rather learning to thrive!
In the field since 2005, my career at the VA and DoD has focused on using CBT, CPT, PE, EMDR, and DBT. I take a strengths-based approach to working with individuals, using EMDR, positive psychology, and mindfulness concepts to build resiliency in my clients.
I balance meeting clients where they are at with utilizing warmth and encouragement to push them just past their comfort zone for optimal growth. I am a nationally recognized subject matter expert in trauma and moral injury.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Group

DBT has been found to be highly effective for individuals who struggle with managing their emotions (anger, anxiety, stress, sadness) effectively. Over the course of 24 weeks, group members will use handouts and discussion to learn the following four skills: Mindfulness: the practice of being fully aware and present in this one moment. Distress Tolerance: how to tolerate and even accept pain in difficult situations that you cannot change. Emotion Regulation: how to change emotions. Interpersonal Effectiveness: how to be assertive, set boundaries, and manage conflict while maintaining self-respect and healthy relationships with others
