Psychologist, PsyD, LCPC
Our group members are mostly functioning professionals who don't realize they need help until they start attend counseling sessions and realize how much they could benefit from it.
Most of our groups are functional professional who is going too far with their alcohol/drugs use. They come to us looking for a different way of life. After few days they start realizing other people in the group talk their language and have similar problems. It usually takes two to three sessions for members to feel comfortable, open up, and share their struggles. That's when they notice they need to do something about their situation and get engaged with the rest of the group. They also start to enjoy coming to the group and share their experiences.
