I am a firm believer that anyone who is looking for help and support should receive it. I also believe that anyone willing and ready to make a change is capable of it. Whether or not this is your first or last time seeking out help, I understand that this process is not easy and can be intimidating, so I commend you for having the courage to give it a try. The good thing is, you don’t have to go at it alone! It would be my pleasure to help you through this journey of self-exploration by providing a safe space to be your authentic self and explore any problem that has been disruptive to your peace.

It is often said that life coaching closes the gap between where you are and where you want to be. Coaching is a unique relationship that addresses areas that are no longer satisfying: your career, your thoughts about yourself, your social life, health, and self confidence. What if you knew exactly what beliefs and habits you needed to create an extraordinary life? We'll work together to identify areas you want to change, so you learn how to challenge what is holding you back and to create plans to transition to that life.

When the demands of our lives become overwhelming, we can feel trapped and powerless in our suffering. Often, we then seek to avoid or ignore our emotional pain, rather than address it. In my work as a clinical psychologist, I strive to help individuals approach their experiences in a way that reduces suffering and promotes health. With a genuine, compassionate, and collaborative therapy style, I work with adults to reconnect with their values and increase the sense of ease in their lives. My approach is strongly rooted in mindfulness-based therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I believe changes occur when individuals have the opportunity to tell their stories. I believe every client is different and is an expert in their situation. Hence, my role is to effectively collaborate with and guide them to identify the best way to overcome challenges throughout the therapeutic process. Three words that describe my therapeutic approach are authenticity, collaboration, and respect. I believe that building a positive therapeutic relationship is crucial in the treatment process to see positive outcomes. My areas of expertise include Black and Haitian populations, Christians, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Talk with me – about feeling weighted down and “heavy” – about struggling with feeling out of sorts all the time, about difficulties in relationships, and becoming quick to anger. Inner conflict, confusion, and uncertainty are some of the hardest spaces to live in as they create fear. We all need support guidance, and encouragement to help navigate what feels hopeless. Let's work together toward establishing a sense of safety and security within yourself. Exploring destress tolerance techniques and creating a balance that allows you to be exactly where you are in this moment – I am a “real person” and a great listener.

I provide Recovery Coaching/Case Mgt on a monthly basis. Whether you're coming back from some form of treatment for your substance use or you've had a relapse from your program, having someone involved with your recovery process is essential for success. It can be very challenging initially in recovery, there are lots of new feelings that you will have to look at that you never really looked at before and this process can stir up some heavy emotions. Having someone with you that has been through it and has assisted many others in the past can be very helpful, especially in the first 90 days.

I will work with you to improve your relationships, learn how to advocate for yourself and build self-confidence, and work through trauma. I especially enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ identified folks and empowering them to live authentically and confidently in a world that may not always understand or support their experiences. I believe that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your emotions, learn new skills, and work towards living your best life.

Currently accepting new patients.... It is through therapy that we come to understand how our experiences make our lives meaningful. Choosing a therapist isn't an easy task; I hope sharing my perspective helps. Over the last decade I have worked at universities, elementary schools, rehabilitation centers and group homes with children and adults from 7-70. These experiences have shown me that the right environment activates our innate capacity to mature and thrive. Therapy is not about "fixing" someone, it's about creating a space that supports growth.

Need to talk to someone unbiased who will challenge, support and not pacify you? If so, I am the clinician for you. My mantra is: "it doesn't matter where your journey begins; only where it ends and what you pass and pick up along the way." For the past fourteen years I have served the "working well" (i.e...individuals like you facing every day struggles) and individuals in the criminal justice system. Both populations faced difficulty with adjustment, depression, anxiety, loss, relationships, anger, substance use, parenting and major mental illness. However, the major difference between them are the resources available to cope.

Do you often feel down, lost, or confused about why you feel the way you do? At night, do you replay the events of the day over and over? Maybe you feel confused about who you really are. Facing trauma and PTSD or oppressive systems can leave us feeling stuck, trapped in depression or isolated, unsure of how to live the life we want. You want more. You want to understand yourself and your life better, taking positive steps forward. You want to get a better grasp of your true identity. You want to get to a place where you can embrace your authentic self, feel connected to yourself and to and to the world around you.

I enjoy working with others struggling with anxiety, ADHD, depression, confidence, spirituality, relationship issues, and self-worth. I often find myself working with those who are learning how to honor their intuition and develop their true and higher selves. I also enjoy working with clients who are open to alternative therapies. I am a heart-centered and strengths-based therapist who meets clients where they are in life and strives to provide a nurturing environment to allow my clients to grow into the best versions of themselves.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Boston?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
