My mission as an IFS-trained therapist is to help you understand and heal the different parts of yourself that may be in conflict or pain. Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, I am here to support you. IFS stands for Internal Family Systems. It is a model that views each person as having a system of sub-personalities that have their own thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and motivations. Some of your parts may be wounded by past experiences and carry negative emotions such as anger, fear, shame, or guilt. Other parts may try to protect you from those emotions by avoiding, pleasing, or numbing.

********Currently accepting clients for waitlist only********** When life brings us challenges that are hard to understand, we lose sight of the power we hold within. The challenge becomes our focus and it consumes us. Counseling is a process that can help us re-focus on what is most important: the power of the individual. Each of us holds the tools we need in order to be the best versions of ourselves. I embrace the opportunity to explore and hone your tools with you. Together, I believe we can discover ways to combine your strengths and your tools to overcome any challenge you face.

Working with me delivers therapy tailored specifically to you. I accomplish this by creating a safe environment in which we can explore underlying issues, then develop achievable mental health goals. Each session is a collaboration where I approach your concerns with values of caring, curiosity, compassion, and collaboration resulting in an individualized approach specific to your needs. I find that most clients often want more than just simple coping skills, they want to understand themselves further. I have the skills to help clients explore deep-seated issues in a non-threatening manner.

Are you grieving the loss of something or someone you loved? Perhaps it was the traumatic loss of a person close to you or your health due to illness. Maybe you’re grieving the person you once knew who you’ve lost due to substances, dementia, or mental health. Grief is a difficult, exhausting, and often isolating process. You may feel like you don’t even know how to or want to move forward, or you may have thought you did and are only now realizing you could use some support to do that. You’re looking for a safe place to start on or move forward in your grief journey.

The journey of life can be happy & promising. However, if your life has begun to feel like a never ending battle, circumstances and issues overwhelm you, feelings of depression or anxiety burden you, important relationships have broken down, abuse or traumatic events are robbing you of peace, I am here to offer compassion, guidance and a ‘safe place’ to share your deepest wounds or concerns. In these very uncertain times, many families and individuals are under a great deal of extra stress, putting further strain on relationships and problems that already existed.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Therapists

When should someone seek treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

People should seek a diagnosis and treatment after a head injury, especially if they were unconscious, and an early diagnosis can lead to a better recovery. Signs of a concussion include headaches, nausea or vomiting, exhaustion, dizziness, vision problems, sensitivity to light and sound, problems with attention and memory, brain fog, unusual irritability or sadness, and unusual sleep patterns.

What’s the most common treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

Treatment for a traumatic brain injury will be different depending on the severity of the problem. For mild injuries, treatment may involve rest and over-the-counter pain or headache medication. For moderate or severe injuries, treatment may involve stabilization, medication, and rehabilitative therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cognitive therapy, and counseling.

How long does it take to recover from traumatic brain injury?

The recovery time for a traumatic brain injury depends on the individual and the severity and nature of the injury; the length of time spent unconscious is often an indicator of severity. Recovery time for mild injuries may be a week or two while recovery time for more severe injuries may be six months to two years. Research suggests that the vast majority of recovery occurs in the first two years after an injury; recovery after that time frame is less certain.

What if a traumatic brain injury is left untreated?

If a traumatic brain injury is left untreated, it can lead to long-term physical and mental health problems. Physical problems may include dizziness, headaches, vision, healing, or speech loss, and an elevated risk of dementia. Psychological problems may include impairments of memory, judgment, and decision-making, depression, aggression, poor impulse control, and personality changes.
