The work I do and journey I assist my clients on takes a holistic approach to tailor specific needs by combining different modalities to manage symptoms and promote healing. I work with all ages. I've gained significant experience in family/child welfare and foster care; abuse; domestic violence; neglect; PTSD; developmental disabilities; ASD; ADHD; parent training; systemic family therapy; substance abuse; depression; anxiety; bipolar; co-morbidity; and narcissistic personality disorder. I also examined the benefits of using mindfulness techniques during sport performances in order to achieve one's optimal potential.

I specialize working with a range of neurodevelopment disorders, disruptive and conduct disorders, and trauma and stress related disorders.
My approach to therapy is characterized by openness, compassion, appropriate humor, and educational support, all provided with impartiality. Finding a therapist with whom you can connect and trust can be challenging. I recognize the hesitation one may feel in confiding in a stranger, addressing issues they've never shared before. My aim is to establish comfort and trust from the outset, fostering a professional environment where clients feel at ease. Whether you seek a non-judgmental listener or are facing overwhelming challenges, counseling has the potential to help you achieve the life you desire.

I am especially focused on trauma work which I believe is an area of vital importance and of great need, especially today.
We are a whole world. Therapy is about mapping out, traveling to, and learning from all of the places we have inside of us. We can choose the places we call home, the places we visit sometimes, and the places we bring closure to as time goes on. My job as a therapist is to help you explore how your life experiences, influential relationships, and core beliefs continue to play a part in your everyday life. I’ve found that if we can work together to visit uncomfortable places long enough to find calm and to start to look around, we’ll see that every life event has important insight to keep present as we live out new experiences.

I became a Marriage and Family Therapist because I enjoy processing with individuals and listening to personal journeys to find a resolution. I was a High School performance art major and find this skill set benefical in providing supports through visual cues using various therapeutic approaches and modalities. I specialize in working with children and families in child welfare. I enjoy working with young children and teens as these are challenging developmental years, trauma and distress from systemic and familial patterns of behaviors, coupled with low parenting, coping, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

My work with children, teens, adults, and families usually begins when someone has reached their breaking point. What’s worked in the past is no longer effective and there is a feeling of being stuck and/or hopelessness. Whether you are dealing with self harming behaviors, suicidal ideation, trauma, or difficulties regulating emotions, thoughts and behaviors I can support you. Through my practice I help clients develop self-awareness and behavioral strategies that can be practiced and infused into daily life. Let's work together on taking your next step.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
