Each person experiences mental distress uniquely. My aim is to partner with my client to ensure their safety in our shared space, create a bond of trust, and then dive into problems and solutions. Whether one experiences identity- or event-based problems and whether those are caused by individual development or social conditions, I strongly believe in the innate ability of trusting partnerships to overcome the troubles in our lives. If I'm not the right therapist for a person, I will work hard to keep them safe until they decide how to move forward.

The longer I’ve lived, the more I’ve understood that life brings both joy and pain, success and failure, beginnings and endings, and this duality can often bring dissonance within us, as we work to make meaning of it all. Healing and wellness are deeply personal to everyone’s journey, and I aim to honor your diverse life experiences through this work. I currently have openings in my Burlington office. Do you have questions or concerns about your drinking or drug use, or perhaps that of someone else? Have recent events in your life caused you to be sad, confused, or feeling alone? I can provide you with a safe and accepting environment with which to explore these uncomfortable feelings. Together we will make a plan to help you eliminate the shame and secrecy which may keep you from thriving. I will help you to communicate about your beliefs and behaviors in an inquisitive, non-judgemental manner which will aid you in fully realizing your potential.

My approach is to provide a safe and therapeutic environment that encourages vulnerability, curiosity, and self-reflection. I enjoy working with individuals who are seeking support through a challenging transition or experience as well as those looking for a space to strengthen their quality of life through personal awareness.

My practice is built on a foundation of resilience, understanding and empowerment with a broader focus on life transitions and adjustments, grief & loss and mixed forms of depression and anxiety. Together, we'll spend our time collaboratively focused on promoting growth, self-awareness and building upon the existing strengths that you have. Through gentle humor and straightforward dialogue, my clinical style leans towards the interactive and follows a strengths-based approach. I believe that curiosity and self-reflection are critical in evolving towards a healthier and happier future.

Adolescence and adulthood are challenging; coping with anxiety, depression, and the daily barriers of life can easily complicate things further. You may struggle to cope with and find balance between the frustrations of school, relationships, work, and family. Maybe you feel it is time to focus on personal growth and seek harmony. I have been practicing as a psychologist for over 30 years. My Masters degree in Clinical Psychology is from St. Michael's College, and my undergraduate degree is from U.V.M. I also completed a two year post-graduate training program in Behavioral Medicine, which provided me with a specialty in working with clients with chronic medical conditions. I teach coping skills and provide support to clients who are dealing with injuries and illnesses.

I have been providing psychotherapy and counseling to individuals and couples in Vermont for over twenty years in a wide range of clinical settings and across a broad scope of client populations. As a therapist, I support people through a process of improving their health and well-being, of living more more mindfully, and of creating opportunities for healing. I also assist clients in exploring personal growth, in developing new insights about themselves and their relationships, in learning skills to reduce stress, anxiety, and other forms of suffering, and in limiting obstacles that impact them from reaching their potential.

Sometimes life is complicated, stressful, and can feel overwhelming, especially in today's world. When interpersonal relationships, family dynamics, or mental health challenges present themselves it is comforting to know that you don't have to sit with all of that by yourself. Connecting with someone and working on life's difficulties, whether it be old wounds or new, can be liberating and empowering. Welcome! I currently have openings for supervisees who are acquiring the necessary hours for state licensure. I also have limited openings for couples' workshops or intensives, or those interested in holistic healing retreats. I help clients with deepening their understanding of themselves and their patterns. I offer guidance and support with relational issues, anxiety, personal transitions, and suppressed creativity & vitality. While working together, we may focus on thought processes, feelings and mindfulness, in order to support positive relationships, emotional health, and increased awareness & empowerment.
