I am motivated to provide quality care to children, adolescents, and adults. I continue to work tirelessly to stay abreast of current trends as an out-patient therapist. I earned my Master's in Social Work at Fayetteville State University with a concentration in mental health and substance abuse. I have experience with working with a variety of addictions including but not limited to: sex, gambling, workaholics, eating disorders, substance abuse, and love/relationship.

I have a general practice whereby I offer individual and couple counseling. My approach is client-centered and I utilize several different therapeutic modalities, according to what is most effective with each individual client.

As the parent of a struggling middle school student, or as an adult who wrestles with anxiety, depression and/or grief, you may wonder if it is ever going to get better. I work closely with parents to strengthen their limit setting, clear expectations, and conflict resolution abilities through improved communication skills. Setting limits and boundaries in all relationships and dynamics is a tool that I often use in my therapeutic process. Giving children, parents, couples and individuals tools to maneuver through the daily issues are tools and techniques that I focus on in our sessions.

Adopting or fostering comes with many challenges. Families go into it excited about the child they will love and care for, and it is common to experience many challenges in loving a child from a hard place. Children placed for adoption or in foster care have experienced a great deal of loss. This leaves them dealing with pain on a deep level. Families often feel guilty or like they haven't been good parents if their child experiences attachment difficulties. But the truth is that it would be weird if they didn't based on their life experiences. These issues are complex and multi-layered, often involving the entire family system.

Making the decision to seek therapeutic services can be challenging, but choosing the right therapist should not be. I am passionate about helping people and often let individuals choose their own path to recovery while offering gentle guidance and direction for personal growth in all areas of life.
