I have worked with children and adolescents, ages 5 to 19. Many of them struggled with issues related to trauma (parents with addiction, an incarcerated parent, neglect and abuse). I have worked with adults on developmental issues in schools and churches. I believe people of all ages possess the power to change, especially when they are supported in a safe environment.

Trauma hurts. It can be sudden, life-altering and overwhelming, or chronic, subtle and nearly unnoticeable, but either way it can change the way we think about others, the world, and unfortunately, ourselves. Finding answers to many of life's problems is difficult. I have found that for some, it is difficult because they are asking the wrong questions. Answering the question, "Why?" can be helpful, sometimes in figuring out how a troubling situation occurred. Why something happens, however, does not always give a clear direction towards solving a problem.
