I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist who has been working with children and families for over 20 years. My passion is helping children express themselves through play. Children (12 and under) typically do not have the cognitive skills to verbally express themselves. Play therapy gives them the tools to understand and process their world.

My behavioral health work began in 1988, with adolescents and their families, branching into extremely effective work with addictions and couples counseling. I am trained in EMDR & Brainspotting (BSP), a very fast paced healing process for all types of trauma, PTSD, abuse issues, anxiety, overwhelming emotions, grief issues and cravings. I work most quickly with athletes suffering from mental blocks, injuries and other issues inhibiting performance even though the injury is completely healed. Many of my athletic clients have completed in just a two hour session.

Kayla has worked with unsheltered homeless and mental health population for 14 Years. Working in a mired of in-patient rehabilitation, co-occurring disorder facilities and psychiatric facilities her passion does not come without her own lived experience of homelessness, trafficking, and domestic violence. Kayla works endlessly to educate the community and create meaningful partnerships that will garnish fair and equal treatment to all persons regardless of their circumstance. The passion to create change in oak cliff was not a choice I made, this choice was purely following the path the Lord presented to me.
