There are several things in my life which drive me to be a counselor. My own past with it struggles, acceptances, failures, and successes drive me to do what I do. I am able to sit in dark places, empathize with struggle and loneliness, and challenge ways of thinking and behaving from a non-judgmental place. I love the unique position a counselor has to problem solve through the failures, walk the uphill road to recovery, and celebrate the success and growth that comes out of the journey.

We all have struggles we have to face—and sometimes we need the help of a trained professional to overcome those struggles. As a licensed counselor, I provide a safe and welcoming environment in which people can express themselves without fear of judgment, a place where they can feel heard and valued. Because I believe strong relationships are vital to the healing process, I am passionate about providing therapy from an interpersonal perspective. As such, I work with teens, couples, and families on issues ranging from spirituality to addiction to trauma to mood disorders such as anxiety, depression, grief, and anger.

I have known since I was a teenager that I wanted to be a social worker. It was when I was 14 that an LCSW was able to connect with me and help me through a dark depression and the amplified anxiety that often goes along with it. It has been my passion since then to provide that same help to others. I have 15 years of experience working in the mental health field, 10 of those as an LCSW. I have experience with individual therapy and group therapy modalities, both on an outpatient and an inpatient basis.

I love working with Older Adults! I have over 20 years of experience working primarily with the older adult population. I have also enjoyed my work with families who are dealing with stressors related to a parent or another loved one getting older. I have dealt with anxiety from a young age, grief and loss issues that have hit a deep place within me. I have parents who are getting older, and have enjoyed being a part of my nephews' lives as they mature. I look forward to sitting with, listening, and respectfully walking with you on your journey. My specialization of practice includes trauma, and varied mental health issues. I seek to provide a safe, comfortable space for counseling where clients feel supported, heard and can be open to learn about themselves and embrace the journey of change. To better serve those I work with, I have begun to incorporate EMDR and Sand tray to address many issues in the therapeutic setting. I also have experience with use of CBT, TFCBT, DBT and will use the modality that best suits the need of the person I am working with.
