Since obtaining my Master's Degree in Social Work from Boston College in 1996, my career work settings has included community mental health centers, hospital based gero-psychiatric units, emergency services, private practice and residential treatment centers.

I help guide my clients to understand how their upbringing, worldview, culture, personality, and view of self affect how they are feeling, behaving, and thinking currently. One goal of mine is to help my clients maximize their wellbeing by better understanding themselves through the use of coping tools like mindfulness to slow and calm themselves enough to be able to assess their own thoughts and emotions in the moment so as to minimize regrets while reducing mood and behavioral symptoms.

I think the ideal client is someone who is motivated to change. I am a practitioner of positive psychology and believe that every person has tremendous resources and just needs to discover these gifts. I think the Psychologist must build upon assets and strengths. I think that humans can build pyramids or travel to the moon when given the right encouragement and belief.

I feel I am a different kind of counselor, because there is not a sense of separation between client and counselor.
