Amber D Boyd, MA, LMFT, Marriage & Family Therapist in Oakland
Welcome! My name is Amber Boyd. I am an African-American, queer-identified Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my Bachelor's at the University of California, Berkeley in Sociology. I received my Master's at Syracuse University in Marriage and Family Therapy. My work strives to dispel the myth that mental health is taboo. I have experienced this myth within my own community. Through my personal and professional experiences, I am aware of the positive attributes that therapy connotes. I would like to share this message with the different communities that I engage with.
Support with: identity, LGTBQ+, forms of oppression, depression, job (school/work related) stress, body acceptance, self-esteem, and familial stress. In relationships, we have rules, established goals and theories, and experiences that influences the way we see the world.
We walk into a room we enter not only as an individual but as community members in which we identify: biological, social/chosen, work, etc. Our history can create conflict and I can support families around increasing positive communication/interactions, creating individuality within the group setting, and address familial secrets.
