I have an eclectic approach in terms of therapy models. I believe every individual benefits from a different combination of techniques. As an individual grows and changes techniques must be adapted and change as well. I use a lot of cognitive behavioral therapy, particularly acceptance and commitment therapy. Mindfulness and trauma focused therapy are also in heavy rotation and I back it all up with a lot of psycho-education. I believe it's important for clients to understand why they are responding to life the way they do so that they can create new patterns in their life.
Ultimately I believe the client should feel empowered and supported while they strive to make changes, and that looks different for each client. I work primarily with adults but have experience with older adolescents as well. I have experience working with complex trauma, depression, anxiety, dysfunctional coping skills, and emotional disregulation.
