I have been practicing Marriage and Family Therapy and individual therapy since 2005. Marriage is a bond that is often difficult to keep together as a couple goes through difficult times. Therapy will focus on components to assist clients from being stuck in their own way of thinking and processing. It is the stuck place that often brings people to feelings of helplessness, depression, anxiety and not perceiving issues with hope and options for change. I specialize in helping couples working through more severe issues, such as, infidelity, personality disorders, etc.
Practicing premarital, marital, and family therapy from a systemic perspective is important. The couple and family are seen as a system and will learn about their beliefs and ways of acting and reacting. Individual therapy focuses on assisting client to work through issues, which also can affect the couple/family.
Therapy is an active process that at times may include homework, practicing techniques, or challenging current beliefs and behaviors. As an individual, couple or part of a family in therapy it is necessary to take part in your own growth and identify your desires for change and practice enacting those.
