I am a person-centered therapist and believe people generally know what they need but sometimes need an outside source to help them reflect, question, connect, and adapt different thinking patterns to find solutions. I believe you are the expert in your life. I typically tend to work with couples and families to improve communication, clients with anxiety and/or trauma, those wanting to increase mindfulness and self-exploration, and clients wanting to regulate emotions, including anger management.
I tend to be present-focused, allowing the client to be in charge of their session and focusing on what the client feels is most important. The main therapies I use include cognitive behavioral therapy, internal family systems, Gottman, brief solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing.
I believe change can happen only when someone feels heard and understood. I try to create a safe space where clients are able to open up, allowing creativity, curiosity, and resolutions. I believe the client is in charge of the session and, ultimately, their progress with the assistance, support, and encouragement of the clinician.
