Hi! I am a licensed, board certified art therapist with 14 years of clinical experience. I became an art therapist out of my love for connecting with others, making art, and learning about human behavior and emotion. Creative art-making can be an incredibly powerful and enjoyable tool in the therapy process. It allows us to express feelings for which we often cannot find words, allowing for growth, change, and healing. Brain imaging technology has shown art-making increases neural activity in the parts of our brains responsible for resiliency, critical thinking, coping skill development, empathy, and stress.
Both art making and talk therapy will be used in session. Drawing and painting supplies, clay, fibers, found objects, beads, and much more are all available for your use. Creative writing, music, movement, and drama therapy can also be explored. The goal of our time together is to help you creatively express yourself while addressing your treatment goals.
No prior artistic experience or skills are necessary. Please contact your insurance carrier to inquire about their coverage for New York State LCAT. Invoices can be provided for insurance carrier for reimbursement.
