Thank you for considering Second City Counseling Services (SCCS) to address your wellness needs. We specialize in telehealth and Gottman Method Couples Therapy (GMCT), an evidence-based therapeutic approach with over 50 years of research supporting it. GMCT focuses on three primary goals to improve relationships: 1. Enrich the friendship and respect in your relationship 2. Manage conflict with empathy and greater self-awareness 3. Honor the dreams you have, your partner has, and the dreams you share for your relationship.

The mission of SCCS is to foster therapeutic connections that cultivate a healthier lifestyle for clients and in turn strengthen their relationships, families, & communities. The vision of SCCS is to provide quality counseling services to couples, & families, including low/no-income clients who may have difficulty obtaining counseling services.

Mrs. Hess has over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, which includes working in a psychiatric hospital, a substance abuse treatment facility, the Child Welfare Services system, the military community, and an outpatient grief support program. She volunteers with O'ahu Search and Rescue in her free time.

In Gottman Method Couples Therapy, treatment includes an assessment phase, a feedback phase, and then a working phase. We will delve deeply into the issues at hand, and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them. Most of my clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month of the working phase, and sustained improvement thereafter.
