Being in a small city sometimes requires collaboration with other providers such as primary care physicians or clinics for medication management, school districts for continuity of care, or nursing homes for consultation. My office has successfully maintained these type relationships for 25 years.

My focus as a Toledo mental health therapist is helping people face challenges head-on. I work with families who have a loved one experiencing dementia, professionals confronted with difficult career or ethical decisions, and clients struggling with PTSD. Other areas of interest include working with artists (musicians, visual artists, writers), helping family members repair damaged relationships, and guiding young adults struggling to find their way. What makes therapy successful is the relationship between the counselor and the client. When that is clicking, change happens and growth starts.

When I entered the counseling profession over twenty-five years ago, my desire was to help people adjust to some of life's challenges and setbacks, while finding meaning and purpose. The therapeutic relationship is a safe venue in which one’s goals, whether life coaching, healing and recovery, improving relationships, or enhancing life satisfaction can be realized. My excitement for assisting people to develop meaningful goals for fulfillment in their life situation remains a passion. I work with children, adolescents, adults of all ages, and families to improve the quality of their lives.

Life changes. Some life changes can be anticipated or predicted; some occur spontaneously, without notice or warning. Regardless of how they occur, all require adaptation and adjustment to what is different or new. We seldom have much difficulty with small changes—those that don’t disrupt a familiar lifestyle or a solid sense of self. Other life changes can be more challenging, sometimes making navigation from the present uncertain, frightening, and maybe even overwhelming. The counseling process can promote successful transitioning and significant personal growth in the course of life changes.

I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist who provides services to women from across the lifespan with a broad range of clinical needs. My clinical training as a generalist has afforded me extensive experiences working with those seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and interpersonal distress. I have been the owner of Positive Pathways since 2000. I am passionate about meeting clients right where they are and journeying with them. I utilize a total acceptance approach by helping each client understand his/her needs through the language of non-violent communication.
