Whether you feel you have no idea where to start, pooling at an in-between place, or need a supportive boost to get back on track in your life, I offer a holistic approach to therapy. To let the ups and downs be witnessed and heard is a profound experience. To receive the care you need is to let go of the belief that doing it alone is the only way. We will work with the contained emotions of transition, grief, relationships, or trauma, allowing wholeness and self-compassion to emerge. “Wisdom tells me I am nothing. Love tells me I am everything. And between the two my life flows.” ― Nisargadatta Maharaj

Your eldering can and should be vibrant and happy. For a long time, we believed development stopped when an individual entered adulthood. This is far from true. Not all the transitions of middle and later life are easy or welcome. No one has to feel depressed, alone, bored, isolated and forgotten. I support individuals, couples, families and caregivers as they navigate the important transitions of later life. Later life is a time of dynamic personal change and growth.

Cultivating joy, self-worth and safety is an inherent right for all people. Navigating our life’s journey can present us with challenges. By strengthening our own agency, internal and external resources it can allow us to create a life that is thriving. My work with you is rooted in neuroscience and play. I work from a feminist, trauma informed approach. Incorporating experiential modalities to work with the body on a somatic level. The body is what holds on to the trauma/past experiences. Together we can explore your own body’s wisdom allowing for a deeper connection with self.

Success in the process of psychotherapy is ultimately dependent upon the relationship between therapist and client. Beyond that--any additional modality training can be useful but not a replacement, for this all important element. I am a relationally trained psychotherapist. Creating a safe and nurturing space for my clients to do the work that is unique for each one of them; is my speciality. That means I am able to work with just about anyone and that I can help with nearly any - thing you may have going on in your life. Whether you carry a heavy load of anxiety or find yourself in active addiction; I believe I can help.

I am a Bilingual Licensed Psychotherapist with 13 years of experience, working with individuals and families in areas of community mental health, the corporate sector, and private practice. Currently, I work with immigrant families, adults, and adolescents with a history of intergenerational trauma. I believe that what is helpful for the therapeutic process is providing undivided attention, empathic support, and addressing challenges along the way. The path to meaning and development is by coalescing all aspects of the self into this existence. We are not a separate entity, but united and connected with everything around us.

Alzheimer's Therapists

What are the first-line treatment options for Alzheimer’s disease?

The first-line treatment for Alzheimer’s disease is often medication, which may be prescribed based on the severity of the disease. These include cholinesterase inhibitors, memantine, or a combination of the two. Behavioral treatments can help people cope with emotional distress, such as anxiety or anger, and explore lifestyle changes related to housing, caregiving, sleep, and finances.

When to seek treatment for Alzheimer’s?

It’s best to seek treatment at the first signs of dementia. Early warning signs of Alzheimer’s include memory problems, such as forgetting appointments or directions, as well as trouble concentrating, paying attention, retrieving words, and carrying out daily household tasks. An early diagnosis can help people slow the progression of the disease with treatment and plan for the future in terms of housing, support, finances, and legality.

Are there specific medications to treat Alzheimer’s?

Medications approved by the FDA to manage symptoms of Alzheimer’s include galantamine, rivastigmine, and donepezil for mild to moderate Alzheimer’s, and memantine, donepezil, and the rivastigmine patch for moderate to severe Alzheimer’s. These drugs can help manage the disease, but no drug currently cures the disease. Medications recently approved by the FDA, such aducanumab and lecanemab may slow the disease course, but aspects of their effectiveness are still debated.

Are there natural treatments for Alzheimer’s?

Alzheimer’s disease cannot be cured via natural remedies (nor via medication), but some lifestyle habits can help forestall it or slow its progression. Lifestyle activities that can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease include regular exercise, a healthy, well-rounded diet, stimulating cognitive activity, time spent socializing, adequate sleep, and stress management as needed.
