I also have training and experience assisting dementia clients and the special needs of their families and caregivers.
My years of experience and training have taught me the importance of good listening. By learning who you are and what you want in your life, I am best able to help you restore or enhance the quality of life you seek. I limit my practice to adults in individual therapy or relationship counseling. While there is no magic in therapy, there is an opportunity to feel better now, avoid future emotional pitfalls and be better able to deal with those that cannot be avoided. As a compassionate and experienced professional, I look forward to assisting you.

I am Board Certified in both Clinical and Neuropsychology, and my practice has evolved over the years to a primary focus on evaluations. Psychoeducational evaluations focus on academic skills and functioning, with ADD/ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorders being of particular concern. These evaluations often lead to accommodations in schools and colleges and on standardized admissions tests. Neuropsychological evaluations examine the impact of psychiatric and neurological disorders on cognitive and emotional functioning. Cogscreen--AE evaluations are conducted to screen pilots and air traffic controllers.

Are you feeling tired, run down, frustrated or hopeless? You're struggling with the never ending challenges and transitions life throws at you. Your plate is so full, you can't possibly take on another thing, yet, here you are...taking on one more thing. You are constantly taking care of others, but your name never makes it to the top of the list. You're sick and tired of being sick and tired. Maybe you're a young adult that is struggling to see the point in life, or maybe you're a parent that is at the end of your rope. You desperately need something to change...but what?

Family therapy is my practice style. I believe it is an honor to provide counseling where trust is developed to find solutions. My counseling is individual, child, adolescent, family, and marital counseling. I accept clients who I believe have the capacity to resolve their own problems with my assistance. I believe that as people become more accepting of themselves, they are more capable of finding happiness and contentment in their lives. Self-awareness and self-acceptance are goals that sometimes take a long time to achieve.

Alzheimer's Therapists
What are the first-line treatment options for Alzheimer’s disease?
The first-line treatment for Alzheimer’s disease is often medication, which may be prescribed based on the severity of the disease. These include cholinesterase inhibitors, memantine, or a combination of the two. Behavioral treatments can help people cope with emotional distress, such as anxiety or anger, and explore lifestyle changes related to housing, caregiving, sleep, and finances.
When to seek treatment for Alzheimer’s?
It’s best to seek treatment at the first signs of dementia. Early warning signs of Alzheimer’s include memory problems, such as forgetting appointments or directions, as well as trouble concentrating, paying attention, retrieving words, and carrying out daily household tasks. An early diagnosis can help people slow the progression of the disease with treatment and plan for the future in terms of housing, support, finances, and legality.
Are there specific medications to treat Alzheimer’s?
Medications approved by the FDA to manage symptoms of Alzheimer’s include galantamine, rivastigmine, and donepezil for mild to moderate Alzheimer’s, and memantine, donepezil, and the rivastigmine patch for moderate to severe Alzheimer’s. These drugs can help manage the disease, but no drug currently cures the disease. Medications recently approved by the FDA, such aducanumab and lecanemab may slow the disease course, but aspects of their effectiveness are still debated.
Are there natural treatments for Alzheimer’s?
Alzheimer’s disease cannot be cured via natural remedies (nor via medication), but some lifestyle habits can help forestall it or slow its progression. Lifestyle activities that can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease include regular exercise, a healthy, well-rounded diet, stimulating cognitive activity, time spent socializing, adequate sleep, and stress management as needed.
