I am honored to be a part of the process of you reaching out for guidance and help. If you are a parent of a struggling child or a caregiver to an elderly relative experiencing changes and decline, I hope that I can be of assistance. I believe in treating the individual as well as making sure to examine their system of support. While the bulk of the work I do is 1:1 with the patient, I am also available to be supportive to caregivers. I also put a strong emphasis on the relational part of the therapeutic process, as it is the key to communication and understanding.

Were happy to help with complex differential diagnoses associated with development in early childhood, adolescent and adults. We assist with understanding the complexity to guide medication management and future treatment in regards to developmental factors, traumatic brain injuries, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder and Asperger's disorder. An appropriate evaluation can help decrease stress in one's life, and will help an individual meet future goals by understanding personal strength and weaknesses.

Life is full of transitions. Whether graduating college, leaving home, starting or ending a relationship, childbirth, career change, bereavement, or aging, such transitions can stir up strong emotions, causing stress and even grief. I help individuals from young adulthood through their senior years who are facing depression, anxiety, and other personal challenges to access the strengths they possess and the skills they need to navigate such struggles with renewed confidence, presence of mind, and embodied capabilities.

Are you having difficulty coping with work, school, or life? Do you want to overcome trauma and reinvest in your life? Unique life experiences grew my passion for mental health. I am constantly learning and always willing to educate myself if it helps my clients. My therapeutic approach is creative and holistic (i.e., spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional). I constantly find strengths to move forward in a positive direction. Emphasizing a cognitive behavioral approach (CBT) to overcome thought patterns, behaviors, and emotions. Some essential tools that assist in developing a peaceful mind are meditation and mindfulness.

Alzheimer's Therapists

What are the first-line treatment options for Alzheimer’s disease?

The first-line treatment for Alzheimer’s disease is often medication, which may be prescribed based on the severity of the disease. These include cholinesterase inhibitors, memantine, or a combination of the two. Behavioral treatments can help people cope with emotional distress, such as anxiety or anger, and explore lifestyle changes related to housing, caregiving, sleep, and finances.

When to seek treatment for Alzheimer’s?

It’s best to seek treatment at the first signs of dementia. Early warning signs of Alzheimer’s include memory problems, such as forgetting appointments or directions, as well as trouble concentrating, paying attention, retrieving words, and carrying out daily household tasks. An early diagnosis can help people slow the progression of the disease with treatment and plan for the future in terms of housing, support, finances, and legality.

Are there specific medications to treat Alzheimer’s?

Medications approved by the FDA to manage symptoms of Alzheimer’s include galantamine, rivastigmine, and donepezil for mild to moderate Alzheimer’s, and memantine, donepezil, and the rivastigmine patch for moderate to severe Alzheimer’s. These drugs can help manage the disease, but no drug currently cures the disease. Medications recently approved by the FDA, such aducanumab and lecanemab may slow the disease course, but aspects of their effectiveness are still debated.

Are there natural treatments for Alzheimer’s?

Alzheimer’s disease cannot be cured via natural remedies (nor via medication), but some lifestyle habits can help forestall it or slow its progression. Lifestyle activities that can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease include regular exercise, a healthy, well-rounded diet, stimulating cognitive activity, time spent socializing, adequate sleep, and stress management as needed.
