Hi there, I'm Alyssa! Whether this is your first foray into the therapy world or you are a seasoned participant, welcome! Being in therapy can feel vulnerable and scary, and even making the call for an appointment can be intimidating. I specialize in anxiety, bereavement, trauma, and psychosis. I believe that everyone is a unique combination of their life experiences, and even if we haven’t had the same experiences, we can still understand and support each other with understanding and empathy. I look forward to hearing about what makes you you and figuring out together how to best help you succeed.
While necessary in treatment, goals can be tricky. Goals are trial and error and are a completely judgment-free zone. One of the most common reasons people quit therapy is because they feel like they aren’t making progress or have difficulty reaching their goals. Sometimes the goals we set aren’t working and need to be re-evaluated and changed.
I prioritize clear and open communication during sessions. I will check in with you often to ensure I'm understanding what you're telling me and making sure we are both on the same page. I will ask you if I can share my thoughts on a matter, with the full understanding that you can say no.
