Hello, my name is Alvin Gilmore. I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I work with my clients who are struggling with issues like anxiety, depression, marital/family difficulties, grief, anger, feelings of loneliness, relationship issues, stress, sexuality, and life transitions as well as other emotional and psychological issues people experience.
My primary therapeutic approach is best described as humanistic existentialism. In other words, I help clients to more deeply understand their life choices although some of those choices cause personal suffering and unhappiness. My approach is one that affirms my clients’ dignity, personal value, and self-worth.
Basically, our first session will help to set the tone for our work together going forward. Since the first session might be the only session It is important that the client be as forthcoming about why they are seeking therapy and state what they are hoping to get out of therapy.
