Announcement icon I am offering both video and phone sessions during this uncertain and difficult time.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as well as a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist. After receiving my Master's Degree in Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill, I worked at a substance abuse and mental health outpatient treatment center facilitating groups and providing individual therapy for adolescents, adults, & families. With an undergraduate degree from the NCSU College of Design, as well as years of experience as a high school visual arts teacher, I incorporate expressive arts with my work with clients. I provide clinical supervision as a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) for those seeking both the LCSW and LCAS.
I am a Certified Daring Way Facilitator for Brené Brown's The Daring Way(tm). I feel excited to help others explore ways to be more connected, resilient, and wholehearted. Most recently, I have become a Yoga Teacher, and currently in-training as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in order to incorporate the mind-body connection in healing and recovery.
My overall belief is that one of the most important parts of the therapeutic process is the relationship between the client and the therapist. In providing a safe and non-judgmental environment, I encourage your own personal empowerment and growth through a relationship built on trust, respect, and compassion.

Allison Grubbs's Groups

Girls Daring Greatly(tm)

Being a teen girl is a conflicting experience. Pressure to be perfect is exhausting, while the feelings of being "not enough" and constant self-judging are pervasive. The desire to fit in is overwhelming. Through engaging, creative, hands-on exercises, teens discover and experience the difference between fitting in and belonging. This group also gives young women the opportunity to develop their own definitions of trust and courage, practice self-compassion, tap into their authenticity, identify their personal values, and engage in their lives and relationships from a place of worthiness. We will incorporate Art, Yoga, and Discussion!
