About
My ideal client is struggling with resolving past trauma and the impact it has on their relationships. They want to improve their view of themselves and develop an identity outside of their mental health conditions and their role in other people's lives. I enjoy working with individuals who have a hard time getting their needs met in healthy ways, either because they tend to be passive or react in anger. I have worked with a wide variety of diagnoses, but my main focus is on what is bothering you in this moment and how we can help you work through that.
The modalities I primarily use are EMDR therapy and CBT. EMDR is based on the idea that distressing memories get "stuck" and our wellbeing comes from resolving stuck memories. CBT helps us to identify thinking distortions that increase distress.
We often don't want to reach out for help, because we feel that we "should" be able to figure things out on our own. We may feel that we are "broken" beyond repair. This is not the case. By dedicating some time to yourself through therapy or other means, you can heal. And you don't have to do it alone. Please reach out if you think I may be a good fit.
