About
As a music therapist, I address many goals typically addressed in traditional talk therapy, such as learning how to deal with difficult emotions, use new coping skills, and connect with others in order to live a healthier, more fulfilling life. Although talking is a big part of music therapy, music allows me to create an experience rather than a purely cognitive discussion. This can be a powerful path to healing. It doesn't matter if you have never played music before in your life. The music is my job -- your job is just to show up and be open to the experience. Your openness may be the best indicator of a good match with me.
Most people would likely find music therapy to be an effective and interesting alternative to talk therapy and I encourage you to give it a try. Several years of additional training in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery in Music allow me to use music as a depth psychotherapy tool in a way that can help you transform your life.
I have been studying and practicing music therapy with supervision since 2012. I have been fortunate to have a wide variety of training and experience that serves to enrich my private practice with adults and adolescents in Richmond, VA. Email is a great way to contact me so that we can set up a time to chat on the phone!
