Maybe you’ve tried a therapist or several, and you’re looking for something a little different. Maybe you’ve found yourself talking in circles around a thing, noticing that your mind and body just aren’t on the same page. For example, “I know (fill-in-the-blank), but I still FEEL (the opposite)…”. Maybe you feel stuck in some way, whether it’s emotionally or creatively, or find yourself at a crossroads in life. I love working with people who are ready to be curious about what’s happening for them and open to exploring their challenges in a new way. I use experiential modalities as appropriate to enhance treatment outcomes.
Based on trauma research, we know that staying in a solely cognitive approach is not enough to heal. I am trained to use experiential tools, such as music, in various ways to help you get “unstuck.” That is my job to figure out and there is no need for you to be “musical” or “creative”… It’s not about the music — it’s about engaging the brain differently.
To complete my master’s in music therapy, I took both music therapy and traditional counseling courses to create a well-rounded approach that I have continued to actively cultivate in my 10 years of practice with adults and teens. Additional training in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery in Music allows me to use music as a depth psychotherapy tool.
