We all experience times in our life when additional support could be helpful. Unfortunately, during these times seeking support can feel overwhelming and vulnerable. I realize it can take a great deal of courage and trust to reach out. As a therapist, I have deep respect for the people that I work with and it’s important to me that I understand my clients experiences and work collaboratively with them to support their goals. My approach is strength-based, trauma-informed, and rooted within a multicultural/feminist framework that attends to context, reinforces resilience, and focuses on empowerment.
I see clients as the experts in their own lives. I also believe that our cultural identities and the context in which we all live informs how we move through this world. I build trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship by pacing our work together and creating space to connect with experiences on a deeper level.
By attending to emotional, physical, and cognitive experiences and patterns, we are able to develop greater insight and understanding of our situations and strengthen the skills needed to persevere in the midst of challenge. Treatment goals may be supported using somatic processing, EMDR, CBT, and interpersonal process.
