I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over ten years of experience. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults in areas including, but not limited to, anger management, trauma, sexual behavior problems, depression, and anxiety. I have a play therapy room for children of all ages and engage in creative play to help children process feelings. I also encourage families to be a part of the counseling experience. In my professional opinion this helps to promote inclusion and a better general understanding of practices that can be used in the home and outside of counseling.
The primary theory I incorporate during sessions is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is problem focused and action-oriented. This evidenced based practice helps to develop positive coping strategies. CBT focuses on solutions, by challenging distorted thoughts and encouraging changes to destructive patterns of behavior.
